In order to celebrate the 120^th anniversary of Shanghai Jiaotong University and the 57^th anniversary of the School of Agriculture and Biology since its establishment, based on the spirit of strengthening cooperation and promoting friendship, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Hebrew University jointly held the first session of bilateral seminar about modern agriculture from April 7 to 8. 

Dean of the School of Agricultural Food and Environment of Hebrew University Professor Shmuel Wolf, Dean of the Department of Animal Science Professor ZehavaUni and Professor Zvi Roth, Professor AlonSamach of the Department of Plant Science and Genetics and Professor Aliza Fleischer of the Department of Agricultural Economy and Management attended the seminar. Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology Professor Zhou Pei, Secretary of the Party Committee Qi Hong, Deputy Dean Professor Che Shengquan and Professor Zuo Kaijing, Dean of the Department of Animal Science Professor Meng He, Professor Huang Danfeng of the Department of Plant Science, and the teachers of relevant specialties including Teacher Gao Yan of the Specialty of Agricultural Economy, Teacher Ma Chao and Teacher Zhang Jingjin of the Department of Plant Science, Teacher Wang Ling of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Teacher Zhang Jing of the Department of Animal Science et al. attended the seminar and made special reports. The seminar was divided into three sections including horticulture, rural economy and planning, and animal science, and 12 theme reports. After the report was finished, both parties also made heated discussion in terms of similar research contents. 

After the seminar was finished, both parties jointly attended the ceremony for the establishment of Shanghai Jiaotong University-Hebrew University Joint Research Center of Modern Agriculture. Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University Professor Mei Hong and Vice President of Hebrew University Professor Isaiah（Shy）Arkin jointly unveiled the research center. Both parties will take the center as bridge, intensify cooperation in agricultural field, put the center as dependence, and expand cooperation in relevant fields.

After the unveiling ceremony was finished, Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology Professor Zhou Pei and Dean of the School of Agricultural Food and Environment of Hebrew University Professor Shmuel Wolf jointly signed the memorandum of understanding for cooperation of both parties. Both parties agree to make close cooperation in the aspects of teacher communication, student exchange, cooperative research, cooperation meeting, the exchange of research data and etc. 

Hebrew University was set up in 1918. The famous scientist Einstein and the famous psychologist Freud et al. were the members of the first session of the Board of Directors. There are eight Nobel Prize winners in the school. The School of Agriculture and Biology wishes to take the strategic cooperation policy of “One Belt and One Road” as guidance, put Shanghai Jiaotong University-Hebrew University Joint Research Center of Modern Agriculture as dependence, change the opportunities in the worlds’ agricultural field into the opportunity of agricultural science of Shanghai Jiaotong University, deepen cooperation with agricultural universities in the world in an all-round way, and make the beautiful wish that both parties can cooperate and realize the win-win situation come true.
