On the morning of May 20, 2016, invited by SJTU-Bor S. Luh Food Safety Research Center, a party of Wal-Mart came to the School of Agriculture and Biology of Shanghai Jiaotong University for visit and exchange. Personnel attending the meeting include Vice President of Food Safety of Wal-Mart Frank Yiannas, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of Wal-Mart William Watts, Deputy Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology of Shanghai Jiaotong University Che Shengquan, Deputy Director of SJTU-Bor S. Luh Food Safety Research Center Yue Jin, Associate Professor of the Food Department Shi Chunlei, teachers of the Food Department Zhong Yu, Wang Danfeng et al.. The meeting was divided into two parts including academic report and cooperation exchange meeting. 

Frank Yiannas made a wonderful report under the title of “Food Safety Culture” for the teachers and students of our school. In the report, Frank shared his experience about the management of food safety in Wal-Mart for many years, explained the core contents in the book Food Safety Culture he compiled, and explained what is food safety culture and a series of issues such as why conventional training and education is often ineffective and etc. for the teachers and students present at the meeting. 

After the report was finished, both parties made in-depth exchange. Yue Jin presided over the discussion meeting. At the meeting, Che Shengquan delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the school, gave an introduction to the development history and characteristics of the school, and put forward the cooperation direction in the aspects of student internship, training and etc. Yue Jin gave an introduction to the condition of SJTU-Bor S. Luh Food Safety Research Center and the food team. Next, personnel of both parties made heated discussion in terms of interested issues. Both parties reached preliminary cooperation intention in the aspects of the internship of undergraduate and postgraduate, the public welfare training of food safety, urban agricultural project and etc., and laid a foundation for cooperation of the next step.
