On the afternoon of June 15, the first session of “the Bulgaria Cultural Day” was opened at Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University. The activity was sponsored by Bulgaria Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and co-organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Shanghai. The Bulgarian delegation made up of six persons including Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Shanghai Mr. Marin Dimitrov, the former Deputy Director of the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria, the member of “Spiritual Mirror” Association Ms. Tatiana Kostadinova et al. came to visit Shanghai Jiaotong University, and more than 50 students and teachers from China and foreign countries participated in the activity.

 

Vice President Huang Zhen cordially met with the delegation members, reviewed the history of cooperation between Shanghai Jiaotong University and Bulgaria, and expressed ardent hope for future cooperation of both parties, wishing that both parties could take Bulgaria Center as the support, and expand all-around cooperation in education, science, culture and etc. step by step. 

Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Shanghai Jiaotong University Ms. Guo Liang and Deputy Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology Professor Che Shengquan attended the opening ceremony of the Cultural Day and delivered the welcoming speech. Mr. Marin Dimitrov and Ms. Tatiana Kostadinova gave an introduction to the unique history and culture of Bulgaria, and presented that there would be huge cooperation space in the agricultural field between Bulgaria and our school. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bulgaria has a production history of rose otto for more than 300 years. In order to reserve the tradition of production of rose otto, Bulgaria set the first Sunday in June as “the Rose Festival” since the end of the 1960s. In June this year, with “Rose Festival” as the theme, Bulgaria held “the Cultural Festival of Bulgaria” lasting one week in Shanghai. The activity contents include “the Image of Bulgaria-The Art Exhibition of Children’s Cloth-pasting Pictures” held in Shanghai Library, the concert of famous Bulgarian pianists and etc. As a parallel session of the cultural festival, “the Cultural Day of Bulgaria” set up the wonderful links such as the cultural lecture of Bulgaria, the review and appreciation of local food and red wine, the display of traditional garments and etc. It provided teachers and students of Shanghai Jiaotong University with an opportunity to teach through lively activities and appreciate local conditions and customs of Bulgaria within a close range.
